DIY Sequin Polka Dot Clutch

do it yourself, american apparel clutch, black sequins, glue

Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July yesterday! I spent the day relaxing and getting a bit of work done… which brings me to this fun weekend DIY for you to try. It’s another easy project that anyone can do. And who doesn’t love a good polka dot—especially when sequins are involved?! Inspired by this cute 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Minute Pouch.

You’ll Need:

  • a small clutch
  • about 2 yards of black sequins
  • fabric glue
  • scissors
  • template – if you’re using the same size clutch as mine (7×5.5″), this will fit!

Start by cutting out the circles from your template, laying it over your clutch and tracing inside the circles. (If you’re not using the template, create your own pattern.) Working one circle at a time, fill in with fabric glue and cover with the sequin strand. Some I started working from the inside out and others I did from the outside in—it’s up to you. Cut the end of the strand when the circle is complete and begin on the next circle. When all the circles are filled in, let it dry and your custom clutch is ready to use!
