I’ve rounded up some of the best (and my favorite) classic bags of the year so far. Many of these are splurges, but I strongly believe that it can be well worth it to spend a little extra when you know you’re getting great quality and know it will last for years to come. They’re pretty basic with a few frills here and there, but overall these will withstand the test of time. I’ve included a great deal in each category— can you spot it without cheating?
Starting off with clutches— now suitable for day or night, these have a bit more embellishments than the rest of the group, but consider them neutrals. Every woman needs a classic black clutch, period. When you’re rocking an LBD, it’s a smart choice to go with something more glitzy and standout with your accessories. Notice how even though the tan clutch has jewels and spikes on it, overall it isn’t overpowering.
These are perfect for shopping trips or vacations, letting you go hands-free for whatever you have planned for the day. They can be a chic choice for any occasion when you take into account the material and overall look of the bag. Try tucking in the strap and using it as a clutch for night!
A staple in any wardrobe. Shown here in a classic black faux-ostrich and simple navy blue. But wait, what’s the orange bag doing here— I thought we were talking about classics? When color is used on a streamlined shape bag without too many extra features going on, the result can be a classic staple. I chose orange since it’s a color that can be paired with a variety of colors and neutrals to go extremely well together; also because I know it would go with many things in my current closet. Any color will do if it’s a classic color for you (maybe even your signature color!).
The trusty tote to hold everything and anything you need for the day. I love these picks because they are classic colors and shapes with just a little something extra to stay modern. We have basic metallic leather, hardware edges and small spikes to keep things interesting.
These are some of my favorite picks because they can really be used for any occasion (except fancy nights out). They can be dressed up or down; taken to the office, while running errands, at brunch… the list goes on and on. Two of these are a bit busier, but if you notice all three of these bags have a classic silhouette that not only make these chic statements today, but will carry you through years of being fashion-savvy.
Tell me, which are your favorites?
