DIY Studded Biker Jacket

The last time you saw this jacket was back in July in this outfit post where I told you I’d soon be doing a DIY with it. Cut to [a few] months later… here it is! I used these studs and an old motorcycle jacket that I had from forever 21 (similar one here).

1, 2

I layed out the studs to see how many I would need for this project as well as determining what I wanted the spacing to be. As you can see in my inspiration photos, the studs on those pieces are extremely close. I liked that look, but for a cotton jacket it would have been too heavy and wouldn’t have hung properly, so I spaced them farther apart.

In order to see where I needed to make the cuts, I pressed the stud into the jacket to make an imprint. Then I made a slit (one for each tip) with an X-acto knife.

I pushed the tips of the stud through the fabric and flipped it over to see what I was doing. Taking the other end of the X-acto knife (the one without the blade), I pushed the tips inward and down to secure the stud.

It takes some time and a bit of elbow grease, but the results are quite nice. Pretty easy DIY, right guys? I’ll have an outfit photo wearing this soon!
